When the Columbian Dyip announced their second pick in the first round of the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft last Sunday, there was some confusion.
Columbian assistant coach Art dela Cruz made the announcement. However, it was an amalgam of two prospects.
“We select CJ Calvo.”
Some thought that it was CJ Isit, one of the standouts from the Combine. Or it might be JP Calvo, the MVP of the two-day event.
As the dust settled, it ended up being Calvo. And the 21-year-old floor general was on cloud nine.
Now, Calvo will have a former rival as his runningmate in Lyceum Pirates’ CJ Perez. Having played against the former NCAA MVP, Calvo knows they can create magic together.
