Nexplay EVOS dispatched RSG PH via a 3-0 sweep to advance to the second round of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight playoffs, Thursday afternoon.
This will be the first time that Nexplay EVOS will advance to the second round of the playoffs since entering the league in Season Six.
After a scorching 2-0 start, Nexplay EVOS had to go through a tough stand from a gritty RSG PH squad in Game Three to complete the sweep.
Nexplay EVOS forced a reaction from RSG PH all around the map before igniting a crucial clash near the Lord pit. Despite losing Renejay “RENEJAY” Barcarse’s Lapu Lapu, Nexplay EVOS managed to close out the match through a five-man wipe.
John Paul “H2wo” Salonga (Paquito) was named the SMART 5G MVP with six kills, three deaths, and six assists in the match that lasted for 36 minutes and nine seconds.
“Hindi po talaga [namin ineexpect na sweep], basta kami three games lang nasa isip namin. Basta panalo,” said RENEJAY after the win.
Nexplay EVOS took full control in Game One, putting a huge advantage through the 1-2 punch of Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s Jawhead and Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon’s Eudora. The former was named the SMART 5G MVP with nine assists in the 11-5 win.
Yawi once again came through for Nexplay in Game Two, catching Christian “Iy4knu” Manaog’s Kimmy, who has been dominant for RSG PH all match long, to complete the team’s come-from-behind win for the 2-0 lead.
Jhonwin “Hesa” Dela Merced (Natan), who kept Nexplay EVOS in the game, took the SMART 5G MVP with four kills, a death, and seven assists in the 21:45-minute match.
RSG PH, who ended the regular season at the sixth spot despite a strong start, settled for a 5th-6th place finish in its debut.
Nexplay EVOS will take on ONIC PH tomorrow, Friday at 3:00 PM in the second round of the MPL Philippines playoffs.
