The Parañaque Aces defeated the Ho Chi Minh City Wings, 61-46, over the weekend in an exhibition game held at the Australian International School gym in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The Aces won over the City Wings in a match that is part of the National Basketball League’s escalation program, where the champion team in the inaugural season of the league was sent to Vietnam for an exhibition match with a team from the Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA).
The NBL board – along with Parañaque Aces team owners Councilor Myles Antipuesto and Neneth Tiu – accompanied the team in the trip.
NBL chairman Soy Mercado said the trip is also part of the league’s thrust to strengthen relations with international leagues, which will also allow the NBL’s homegrown talents to gain exposure at different levels of basketball.
Meanwhile, action resumes in the NBL on Saturday at the Philippine Christian University gym with a tripleheader. Imus Bandila battle the Parañaque Aces at 2 p.m.; the Iriga City Oragons take on the Pasig Rios at 4 p.m.; and the Laguna Pistons face the Dasmariñas Ballers.
The WNBL also returns on Saturday with the Cleon and Clyde Lady Snipers taking on the Philippine Air Force Lady Air Defenders at 11 a.m.
