Pampanga woke up in the second half, defeating Parañaque, 69-55, in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman’s Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga, Sunday evening.
After a close first half that saw the Aces take a 34-30 lead at halftime, the defending champions found their old selves after the break.
The Delta completely dominated the second half, outscoring the opposition by 18, holding them to just 21 combined points.
Pampanga survived an off-day for Encho Serrano and Levi Hernandez, getting only 13 and nine points, respectively, all while shooting 9-of-31.
Michael Garcia and Rhanzelle Yong both tallied double figures with 10 points apiece as the Delta rose to 5-1 for solo third place.
Defense was the key for Pampanga, limiting Parañaque to a poor 24 percent shooting from the field, going just 20-of-81.
Jielo Razon still led the Aces despite coming off the bench, making 18 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
Paolo Castro paced their starters with 16 points as the Aces slid to 1-3.
