Jielo Razon, Paolo Castro link up as Paranaque averts collapse vs Taguig in NBL

Parañaque grabbed a piece of the eighth seed after avoiding a collapse against Taguig, 71-63, to cap the weekend games in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman’s Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

A jumper by Paolo Castro at the 7:37 mark of the fourth salvo gave the Aces a 20-point spread, 68-48.

Then the comeback started for the Generals.

Taguig unleashed 15 unanswered points courtesy of LJ Mayo, Coco Tancioco, Jonathan Lontoc, Noel Santos, and Mike Sampurna to inch within five, 63-68, with 1:18 to go.

However, Parañaque held on with honest defense while also making key shots from the line. They now rise to 3-5, tied with Mindoro for eighth.

Jielo Razon, after going 5-of-29 yesterday, retaliated with a 50 percent outing. He made it 8-of-16 to end with 19 points with nine rebounds, and three steals for the Aces.
