MPL PH: Smart Omega clinches playoff berth after surviving RSG

Smart Omega secured their fourth win in the last five matches with a 2-1 victory over RSG Philippines, punching their place in the playoffs of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Saturday.

Omega has now reached 19 points and needs only one more game win to secure a playoff spot. Minana Evos can achieve a maximum of 19 points in the regular season.

In Game 1, Omega dominated the early game and gained control after Patrick “E2max” Caidic’s (Faramis) triple kill during a skirmish in the bot lane late in the 8th minute.

Ron Matthew “Matt” Papag (Baxia) then displayed remarkable composure during a crucial 18th-minute lord dance, where he successfully stole the lord objective from RSG, leading to a game-winning 3-0 wipe and a 1-0 victory.

RSG changed the narrative in Game 2, taking control of the early game and establishing a 3k gold lead by the 9th minute. This lead allowed John “1rrad” Abarquez (Fredrinn) to easily secure the lord objective.

Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo (Benedetta) then delivered a highlight reel play during the 13th-minute lord fight, outplaying Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Claude) in a 1-on-1 showdown that highlighted RSG’s 4-0 wipe and forced a decider.

Kelra (Claude) made up for a lackluster performance in the previous match with a solid double kill during a 15th-minute top lane ambush, propelling Omega to a 22nd-minute Game 3 victory.

RSG’s hopes for the upper bracket are now in jeopardy as they still trail AP.Bren (6-6) who has 22 points.
