MPL PH: Smart Omega breaks through, makes quick work of RSG

Omega Esports entered the win column after sweeping RSG Slate PH, 2-0, in the MPL Philippines Season 11 regular season, Friday at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

The team lost its first two matches to start the season but managed to finally end the skid after taking down the Season Nine champs to move to 1-2 in the standings.

“Yung confidence namin ang naging problema nung una kasi bago nga, bagong bago yung team namin,” said Omega Esports technical head coach Patrick “E2max” Caidic.

“Nawala yung mga veterans namin sa mid si Ch4knu saka E2max na sila yung nagdedeliver sa mga player nung mga sinasabi ko na gagawin nila. Yun kasi yung parang pinaka-key ng isang team, yung tao na kayang mag-deliver ng mga winning conditions at play,” he added.

Both teams figured in a tight affair in the opener but the former managed to turn things around during the 28th minute despite losing Dale “Stowm” Vidor (Valentina) early in the long clash.

The Smart-backed squad scored crucial kills on Dexter “Exort” Martinez (Pharsa) and Dylan “Light” Catipon (Chou) which put them in a great position to take down the Lord and, eventually, finish the game.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas led the way with five kills and six assists without a single death on Harith while Dean “Raizen” Sumagui had four kills, a death, and six assists in the tight 13-10 Game One win in almost 30 minutes of play.

In Game Two, Omega Esports in Game Two tripped RSG Slate PH after Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo tried to pick off Stowm’s Pharsa in the middle lane but the Omega middle laner popped his purify which allowed him to escape and gave his team the opening to take down Nathzz.

That proved to be the game-changer as Omega Esports took down the first Lord and swept the series.

Kelra once again led the way with a 6-1-3 KDA on Harith in the 10-9 Game Two win in 15 minutes.

Omega Esports will face Blacklist International tomorrow, Saturday at 6:30 PM while RSG Slate PH looks to bounce back against TNC earlier in the day at 2:30 PM.
