MPL PH: ONIC bags fourth straight win, sends Blacklist to third loss

ONIC Philippines proved that they are one of the top dogs this season, taking down Blacklist International via a 2-0 sweep for their fourth consecutive victory in Week 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Saturday at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Makati City.

The three-time MPL PH finalists improved to 12 points, built around four wins against one loss, while limiting Blacklist to seven points (2-3).

“Yung time na yun, hindi kami bothered na nabasagan kami. Buong week din kasi naming pinrepare yun so alam namin yung spike nung set-up,” explained ONIC head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin on ONIC’s Game 2 comeback win.

“It’s more of yung tamang timing lang kasi naririnig din namin sa kanila na alam pa rin nila yung gagawin nila.”

It was Joemarie “Escalera” Santos (Arlott) who spearheaded ONIC’s convincing victory in Game 1, earning the game MVP citation with a 2-2-9 KDA.

In Game 2, the Sonics turned back a 4k deficit in the mid-game sparked by Escalera’s (Masha) nifty backline attack in the 13th minute, followed by two consecutive lord objectives to establish a massive 10k gold lead midway through the 20th minute.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Natan) led the way in ONIC’s comeback with a perfect 4-0-9 KDA.

ONIC will next face TNC Pro Team on Sunday, April 7, before closing out the first half of the season against league-leading AP.Bren on April 13.
