MPL PH: Omega barges into top four after sweep of TNC

Smart Omega delivered a masterclass with a 2-0 sweep against TNC Pro Team, securing their victory in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Sunday.

With this victory, Omega displaced RSG Philippines from the fourth spot in the standings, accumulating six points with a 2-2 record.

One of the keys in Omega’s victory against TNC was the tank trio line-up they employed during the series which provided their core damage dealers to stay protected throughout teamfights.

“It’s something na nakikita na namin sa meta sa practice kaya ayun yung ginagamit namin ngayon. Bagay din siya sa mga hero pool ni Kelra and ni E2max,” explained Omega head coach Ronel “Stronger” Tan.

Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog, playing as Minotaur, led Omega’s attack in Game 1. His accurate flicker + Minoan Fury setup during a 12th-minute midlane skirmish resulted in picking off John Vincent “Innocent” Banal, who was playing Claude.

This play helped them secure the Luminous Lord. Duane “Kelra” Pillas then took control in the subsequent minutes of the game, finishing with a flawless 9-0-2 KDA to claim the opening victory.

With momentum in their favor, Omega continued to apply pressure on TNC and dominated the early game. They seemed poised for a sweep until Ben “Benthings” Maglaque, playing Franco, initiated a 3-2 exchange with his Iron Hook, allowing them to secure the 20th-minute Lord.

However, the Phoenix Army overstayed their welcome during a 26th-minute base turret siege, where Omega executed accurately, resulting in a series-clinching 5-1 wipeout.
