MPL PH: Kelra bounces back, lifts ONIC to rebound win over RSG

ONIC Philippines bounced back from an opening day defeat in dominant fashion with a 2-0 sweep of RSG Philippines to close out their Week 1 assignments in the MPL Philippines Season 13 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Sunday.

It was ONIC’s first win after succumbing to a 2-0 sweep at the hands of ECHO. Facing RSG Philippines, who finished in the top four in each season since Season 9, ONIC appeared more prepared and decisive.

“I think okay yung performance nila (RSG) to the point na they’re trying to execute what they want. It’s just that yung plays na ginawa namin, na-overwhelm lang siguro sila,” said ONIC head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin on their impressive win against RSG.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Karrie) made up for a lackluster debut yesterday with an explosive display in Game 1, highlighted by a game-winning triple kill in the 13th minute.

He took MVP honors with a 5-0-4 KDA as ONIC took a 1-0 lead.

ONIC continued to impose their will on the hapless RSG squad, taking a 15-minute win with a massive 14-5 lead in the kill score.

It will be a nostalgic match-up next week for ONIC PH as they will face Smart Omega. Kelra, along with the three members of the ONIC coaching staff, were all former members of Smart Omega.
