MPL PH: ECHO dominates Omega with Sanford’s brilliance for second win

ECHO leaned on the heroics of teenage sensation Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya to secure their second win in as many matches, courtesy of a 2-0 sweep of Omega in Week 1 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Sunday.

The M4 World Champions now sit atop the standings with AP.Bren as the only team left undefeated this season.

They both boast a 2-0 win-loss card built around back-to-back sweeps.

“Yung hero composition kasi namin nung Game 1 is panglate game talaga so ang winning condition namin dun is talagang pang late game. Na-meet naman yung condition na yun so nakuha namin yung win,” explained ECHO head coach Archie “TicTac” Reyes on their comeback win.

In Game 1, ECHO shrugged off a 16-6 kill deficit by employing a three-man diversion tactic in the top lane late in the 25th minute to score a pickoff.

They followed it up with their signature split-push, executed by Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya (Benedetta) and Alston “Sanji” Pabico (Novaria) after a broken play in the 27th minute, completing the comeback win, 1-0.

It was Sanford (YuZhong) who once again played the hero in Game 2 as his double kill late in the 10th minute proved pivotal.

ECHO cruised to victory from there to secure the sweep.

ECHO will aim for win No. 3 against RSG Philippines on March 22, while Smart Omega will look to snap their skid against ONIC Philippines on the same day.
