In their second import change for the season, Meralco will replace the injured Gani Lawal with Delroy James as they head into the tail-end of their 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign, according to multiple reports.
Delroy will be the Bolts’ third import this conference, next to Lawal and Jimmie Lee Taylor, who only played once in the mid-season conference. The Bolts currently carry a 3-5 card.
The 6-foot-8 bruiser played for NCAA Division 1 school Rhode Island from 2007 to 2011. He then kickstarted his pro career with Bnei Herzliya in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
James would also play in Italy, Turkey, Russia, Greece, and Lebanon. He also had a stint in the NBA G-League.
The 32-year-old Guyanese-born cager last played for AEK Athens in the 2019 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. He averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the group stages.
James is expected to suit up for the Orangemen this Saturday versus the Magnolia Hotshots in Zamboanga.
