‘Five-peat’ seeking La Consolacion College Manila (LCCM) cruised past the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), 91-53, to tie idle St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) at the top of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Season 16 Seniors Basketball Tournament last Saturday at the UA&P Gym in Pasig City.
The Blue Royals, supported by Demigod, Pureblends, Uratex, A-Game, and Infinite Basketball, improved to a 7-1 record, sharing the top spot with the Pikemen.
Both teams have just one game remaining in the elimination round, with LCCM set to face ICCT and SDCA squaring off against WCC today.
The top seed is at stake in these crucial matchups.
LCCM’s victory was a commanding performance, led by Kenneth Castillo, who tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Jay Antonio contributed 15 points, while team captain Kelly Aloro and John Trinidad added 13 and 10 points, respectively, with the latter also grabbing six boards.
Meanwhile, the WCC-ATC Skyhawks secured a vital 72-52 victory over the ICCT Blue Dragons, keeping their Final Four hopes alive.
Klien Lizan delivered an efficient outing, scoring 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds.
Ralph De Guzman added 14 points, helping the Skyhawks pull even with the Blue Dragons at 6-2, tied for third place.
Both teams hold a slim half-game lead over Treston for the last Final Four berth.
The Blue Dragons were led by Harold De Guzman’s 12 points in the loss.
Treston stayed in the playoff race with a 52-45 victory over the eliminated PWU team.
Neil Edina paced the Golden Lions with 12 points.
In other action, ALIAC dismantled PATTS, 88-56, to cap off the day’s games.
