LCCM sweeps elims, takes top seed in ISAA semis

La Consolacion College Manila completed a dominant elimination-round sweep in the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association Season 17 Seniors Basketball Championship.

The Blue Royals wrapped up the eliminations with a spotless 9-0 record to secure the No. 1 seed and the twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals against fourth-ranked World Citi Colleges (5-4) on Saturday at the LCCM Gym.

WCC and Treston Colleges both finished with identical 5-4 cards, but the Skyhawks claimed the higher seed after winning the quotient tiebreaker over the Golden Lions.

LCCM’s most crucial win came last Tuesday—a revenge victory against defending champion St. Dominic College of Asia, pulling out a gritty 70-64 overtime triumph.

In the heated matchup, Christian Alonzo led the Blue Royals with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Eyle Cordano delivered an impressive 14-point, 14-rebound double-double in 40 minutes of action, while Bernon Valencia added 10 points.

The Blue Royals also defeated Philippine Women’s University (75-68), University of Perpetual Help System DALTA-Molino (67-45), Treston Colleges (82-69), Manila Tytana College (57-46), ICCT Colleges (71-61), WCC (66-64), ALIAC (72-68), and University of Asia & the Pacific (85-50).

The other semifinal pairing will feature the SDCA Pikemen against the PWU Patriots.

Both teams ended the eliminations at 7-2, but SDCA holds quotient advantage over PWU.
