It took a full year, but La Consolacion College Manila finally got its revenge.
The Blue Royals swept their modern-day rivals and defending champions, the St. Dominic College of Asia Pikemen, in the best-of-three finals series to reclaim the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association Seniors Basketball Championship.
LCCM defended its home court in Game 1 on December 9 with a 71-55 victory, then clinched the title on enemy turf the following day, 69-66.
Christian Alonzo shone in the series opener, posting 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Eyle Cardano supported him with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
In the deciding game, Kenneth Castillo took center stage, delivering a monstrous double-double of 19 points and 21 rebounds.
Alonzo and Cardano added 15 and 12 points, respectively, while CJ Saure contributed 10 points, helping the Blue Royals secure their sixth overall league title.
Alonzo was named the regular season Most Valuable Player, while Castillo earned Finals MVP honors.
Joining Alonzo in the mythical team were teammate JM Urmeneta, St. Dominic’s Edward Daquioag, Manila Tytan’s Michael Del Carmen, and ALIAC’s Jovi Manlapig.
LCCM finished the season undefeated, going 9-0 in the elimination round before defeating World Citi Colleges in the semifinals, 59-51.
