Fnatic ONIC Philippines delivered a commanding performance on Day 1 of the M6 World Championship Swiss Stage, securing a decisive 1-0 victory over reigning MPL Indonesia champions Team Liquid Indonesia at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Center in Malaysia on Thursday.
The Filipino squad showcased exceptional synergy and skill, dominating the match from start to finish in a one-sided affair that lasted just 11 minutes and 11 seconds.
TLID only managed five kills throughout the entire game.
“Just proud. I know every team here has prepared, but for us, it’s about being consistent since the day we met,” said head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin in the post-match interview. “I’m very happy that it’s new here – different country, different setting, but still the same thing for us.
“The game just played itself for us. I’m just expecting us to probably do the same moving forward. It’s all about the family thing,” he continued.
The early stages saw both teams exchanging blows, staying neck-and-neck. However, the momentum shifted dramatically when Duanne “Kelra” Pillas’ Bruno secured a stunning triple-kill at the 6:38 mark in the mid-lane, giving FNOP a significant 2.8k gold lead.
As the match progressed, FNOP maintained control, systematically dismantling TLID’s defense by taking down turrets and eliminating players one by one.
King “K1ngKong” Perez (Suyou) was named the match MVP for his outstanding performance with a perfect KDA of five kills and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Kelra, who also had a flawless performance, finished with five kills and six assists.
