With 6:54 left in the second frame, TNT’s hulking reinforcement Joshua Smith went down. It seemed that his Paul George 1 exploded mid-game.
He did not return to the game, finishing with just four points and seven rebounds in nine minutes of action. TNT lost the game, 101-125.
However, according to TNT assistant manager Virgil Villavicencio, the 6-foot-10, 300 pound big man had experienced pain on his right foot, specifically his smallest toe.
“Hindi naman fracture. Natapakan daw siya,” Villavicencio disclosed. “Pero masakit daw and we sent him to the hospital [St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City].”
The team will wait for the results of the MRI. His status for Game Four on Saturday, June 17, is still up in the air.
Smith, TNT’s fourth import for the conference, averaged 25.5 points and 14.5 rebounds during the first two games of the series.
