We’ll see each other again
November 8, 2015 was the last time Jeron Teng, who was still with the De La Salle University Green Archers, and Kiefer Ravena met on the hard court with Ravena’s Ateneo Blue Eagles coming out on top, 73-62. And when the final buzzer had sounded, Teng vowed that he’ll see Ravena again.
The two are set to reunite on the hard courts once again, not as rivals this time around but as teammates under Mighty Sports for the 2017 Dubai Invitational Basketball Tournament.
“I’ve known the Mighty [Sports] group kasi since my Xavier [School] days,” Jeron Teng, who is also campaigning for the AMA Online Education Titans in the PBA D-League, said.
“Feel ko mag-eenjoy ako dun and, at the same time, I’ll be able to represent the country.”
The tournament is scheduled to be from February 18 to 25 at the Al Ahli Club in Dubai, UAE. Fortunately for Teng, AMA will only have one scheduled game during that frame when the Titans face the Blustar Detergent Dragons on Tuesday, February 21 at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
“AMA allowed Jeron to join because it is for the country,” AMA head coach Mark Herrera said. “Basta para sa bayan.”
“It’s good to represent the country,” the 22-year-old added.
Besides Teng and Ravena, former Ginebra import Justin Brownlee, former number two overall pick in the NBA Draft Hasheem Thabeet, and former PBA MVP Willie Miller have also been confirmed to join Mighty Sports.
