In response to the rapid growth of volleyball in the country, Mighty Sports inaugurated its new volleyball courts at AcroCity in Guiguinto, Bulacan, on Saturday, Oct. 10, drawing a diverse crowd of fans, young and old alike.
Adding to the occasion was the presence of the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles and PBA star Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
The inauguration of the volleyball facility came two weeks after Mighty Sports officially opened its basketball courts, which hosted a charity basketball event featuring former Xavier School standouts and PBA stars led by Chris Tiu and Joseph Yeo.
This time, it was the Thunderbelles’ turn to provide action and entertainment for the crowd, particularly the young fans who dream of representing the country in major sporting events someday.
The huge turnout delighted AcroCity and Czark Mak chairman Caesar Wongchuking, who said: “Volleyball has a different magnetic force, fans really enjoyed the moment.”
“Acrocity’s commitment to Bulacaños is to provide wholesome family entertainment, food and sports facilities,” Wongchuking said. “Soon, we will expand our development in providing quality homes and to cater to the Bulacan residents but as an alternative to Metro Manila and other nearby Central Luzon investors.”
Wongchuking said the event’s success would not have been possible without the support of Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro, ZUS Coffee owner Frank Lao, and the Thunderbelles, particularly Jolina Dela Cruz and veterans Jovelyn Gonzaga and Rachel Daquiz, who gamely interacted with young fans during the meet-and-greet session.
The event culminated in an exhibition game between ZUS Coffee and the Makata Selection of Bulacan, with proceeds going to Tahanang Mapagpala of Immaculada Concepcion Foundation, Inc.
Envisioned as a “Live, Work, Play” destination in Guiguinto, AcroCity is also home to Acro Residences Hotel, restaurants such as Cafe de Margaux and Mt. Fuji, and event venues including Ang Hardin and NDW Plaza, named after the Wongchuking family matriarch, Nelia D. Wongchuking.
