Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado is confident that when it comes to mixed martial arts, fifth-ranked strawweight contender “Mini T” Danial Williams has a lot of catching up to do.
Miado and Williams will duke it out in a crucial strawweight clash at ONE Fight Night 3: Lineker vs. Andrade this Saturday morning, 22 October, at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Williams comes in as a highly touted two-sport competitor, owing to his experience in Muay Thai and MMA.
While that’s not lost on Miado, he knows that this isn’t strictly a Muay Thai battle, and when it comes to the all-encompassing sport, he thinks he has the edge.
“I believe he’s faced a higher quality of opponents when it comes to solely striking, but if we’re going to talk about mixed martial arts then I believe I’m more experienced than him, and that’s something that I have over him,” he said.
While many expect a striking war to favor Williams, the Marrok Force representative is confident that he can hang with Williams on the feet, noting that he’s longer and quicker than his opponent.
“I also believe I’m going to have a reach advantage over him in this fight. It’s something that I’m going to take advantage of. It works well because my hands are also faster than [his], and that combination of reach and speed is something that I can use to my advantage in this match,” he said.
“Don’t get me wrong, he’s got power in his hands, but I think mine are quicker.”
With just a few days to go before their long-awaited clash, Miado promised a barnburner, and he’s confident that he’ll get his hand raised at the end of the day.
“This will be a very good fight. You better not miss this,” Miado said.
“This one’s going to be a fight between two men who are willing to throw hands. I expect a finish. I’ll end it with either a KO or TKO.”
