Jalen Green helps lift Ignite to G League playoffs

With their backs against the wall, Jalen Green and the young guns of Ignite delivered their best overall outing in the G League season, blasting Austin 127-92, Sunday (Manila time) at Adventhealth Arena.

Ignite, who ended the elimination round with an 8-7 slate, will take on top seed Raptors 905 in the knockout playoffs starting on Tuesday.

Ignite eliminated Oklahoma City as well from playoff contention after the Blue fell to Santa Cruz, 113-103 in overtime.

Jalen Green scored 18 on 6-of-15 shooting with four rebounds and two assists.

After trailing Austin 11-4 at the 7:36 mark, Ignite erupted with a 17-0 run that featured 3-pointers from Isaiah Todd, Jarrett Jack and Cody Demps. The outburst helped Ignite build a 10-point cushion, 29-19, to end the first quarter, and Ignite never relinquished its control, outscoring the Spurs in every quarter.

Amir Johnson poured in 27 points and shot a perfect 12-12 from the field – the most consecutive field goals without a miss by a G League player since Devontae Cacok on Feb. 12, 2020.

Isaiah Todd added a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double alongside three assists and two blocks while Daishen Nix and Cody Demps added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Austin is the No. 5 seed and will meet No. 4 seed Delaware on Tuesday as well.

Quinndary Weatherspoon led the Spurs with 22 points, and Kenny Williams (15 points), Cameron Reynolds (10), and Galen Robinson Jr. (10) all finished in double figures.
