Jalen Green goes to Houston in NBA Draft

The Houston Rockets selected Jalen Green with the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Rookie Draft, Friday morning (Manila time).

Green joins a Rockets team that is coming off a league-worst 17-55 slate last season.

The Filipino-American guard is coming off a stellar year with G League Ignite, norming 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists a game.

The 19-year-old also played in the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship, U17 World Cup, and the U19 World Cup. He won tournament MVP in the U17.

Green is Houston’s first opening round pick since 2015, when it selected Sam Decker with the 18th pick. He is also the highest pick of the Rockets since Yao Ming went first in 2002.

This is also the first draft of incoming second-year GM Rafael Stone.
