Jaja Santiago remains in Japan, joins Denso Airybees

Jaja Santiago is set to continue her career in the Japan SV.League.

The 6-foot-5 middle blocker, who carries the Japanese name Sachi Minowa, has signed with the Denso Airybees, the team announced on Wednesday morning (Manila time).

Santiago spent the past two seasons with the Osaka Marvelous, where she helped the team capture the championship in the most recent edition of the league.

“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to play for Denso Airybees this season. A big thank you to the team for welcoming me. I’m excited to work hard and contribute to our success,” said Santiago, a two-time Best Middle Blocker in Japan’s top league.

“My goal is to give my best every game, improve continuously, and help us achieve great results. Together, I believe we can reach our goal and make everyone proud.”

This move marks Santiago’s seventh season in Japan, following five years with the Saitama Ageo Medics and two seasons with Osaka.

The Airybees finished fourth last season, posting a 29-15 record in the elimination round.

Interestingly, Denso has also featured another Filipino standout in recent years, with setter Jia de Guzman playing for the club over the past two seasons.
