With the reshuffling in Converge, a young gun is set to make league history while a sports official will fulfill her destiny.
Young Jacob Lao will take over the team manager position of the FiberXers — the post vacated by Gov. Dennis Pineda, who will be the team governor of the Dennis Anthony Uy-owned franchise moving forward.
At just 23 years of age, Lao will be the youngest ever team manager in the 48 years of the PBA.
Blackwater’s Jacob Munez was previously the youngest team manager in league history at 26 back in 2020.
Lao was part of the UAAP Season 85 championship team of Ateneo de Manila University.
The young entrepreneur owned the Strong Group Realty team that competed in the 32nd Dubai International Basketball Championship and managed many teams in other leagues.
Lao is also a restaurateur.
Meanwhile, CK Kanapi-Daniolco has been promoted to assistant team manager.
Kanapi-Daniolco practically grew up in the PBA.
The daughter of former Shell governor Bobby Kanapi was an official for Alaska from 2007 until the franchise was sold to Converge last year.
She was one of the few acquihires made by Converge, serving as the FiberXers’ sports marketing manager.
The Assumption College alumna is also part of the 2023 FIBA World Cup organizing committee.
