Converge acquires Mark Omega’s rights from Rain or Shine ahead of NCAA swan song

A day before his final NCAA season tips off, Mark Omega saw his professional rights transferred.

Rain or Shine shipped Omega to Converge in exchange for a second-round pick in the upcoming PBA Season 52 Draft.

The league approved the deal on Thursday — just a day before Letran’s clash with José Rizal University.

Omega was originally selected 20th overall by the Elasto Painters in the Season 50 Draft.

He was part of the big Letran contingent picked up by Rain or Shine, which also included Jun Roque and Deo Cuajao.

The 6-foot-6 big man transferred to Letran two years ago after previously playing for Perpetual Help.

In NCAA Season 99, he earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team, averaging 8.2 rebounds per game.

Curiously, Letran is backed by Strong Group — the sports marketing arm led by president Jacob Lao, who is also the team manager of Converge.
