After a long wait, Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda is about to take the reins at Converge.
The FiberXers officially appointed the Pampanga Vice Governor as their new head coach for PBA Season 50 on Friday.
Pineda becomes the fourth head coach of Converge since the franchise was acquired from Alaska in 2022, following Jeffrey Cariaso, Aldin Ayo, and interim coach Franco Atienza.
Coming off three consecutive quarterfinal exits in Season 49, Converge is counting on Pineda to steer the FiberXers into at least a semis appearance.
No stranger to Philippine basketball, Pineda has previously captured championships in both the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and the Pilipinas Super League.
An experienced coaching staff — including Willie Miller, Danny Ildefonso, and Karl Santos — will support him.
Alongside the coaching change, Converge also announced an organizational reshuffle.
Archen Cayabyab will continue as team governor, while Atty. Redentor “Red” Sac, a prominent CPA-lawyer, has been named his alternate.
Atty. Sac has been a practicing accountant since 1996 and a lawyer since 2003.
He worked for numerous firms and even with the Public Attorney’s Office in Aparri before starting his own law and accounting firm in 2010.
The team will also lean on a young and dynamic management group.
Strong Group president Jacob Lao returns as team manager, having already made significant roster moves over the past two days.
Meanwhile, Lauren Uy, daughter of team owner Dennis Anthony Uy, has been appointed assistant team manager.
Lao’s return signals a renewed commitment to the FiberXers, as he looks to build on the foundation he helped establish and push the team forward.
CK Kanapi-Daniolco will return to her former role, helping out in team operations.
With this new leadership working hand in hand, Converge is positioning Pineda to field a formidable lineup starting with the 2025–26 Philippine Cup.
