For the past week, Filipino-American Jalen Green has been showing why he is one of the top high school recruits in the States. And after leading USA Basketball to another Under-17 World Cup, the 16-year-old will also bring home a personal honor.
Green, who played for FilAm Sports USA during the 2018 NBTC National Finals, was named the Most Valuable Player in the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup Monday.
Green led the United States in scoring with 15.7 points per game, while also averaging 2.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.4 steals.
The 6-foot-5 swingman provided plenty of highlights in the tournament with his thunderous dunks. And he was able to do all of this by showing the rest of his arsenal as well.
Green scored 27 points in the quarterfinals, and followed it up with a 25-point outing in the semis. He capped his campaign with 11 points in USA’s 95-52 rout of France in the finale.
