Former Alab Pilipinas guard Ethan Alvano will be making waves abroad.
Alvano, 25, has signed a deal to play for Eisbären Bremerhaven, a German club that competes in ProA – Germany’s second-tier league for professional basketball.
“With Alvano we get one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league,” said Bremerhaven head coach Michael Mai. “Together with (Carrington) Love and (Konstantin) Konga we now have very strong guards on the team. His speed, team-first mentality, and his shot also distinguish him on the offense.
“We feel that we have found a jewel in Ethan! ”
After two years with Cal State San Marcos, the 6-foot-1 guard made his pro debut with Alab during the 2018-19 season of the ASEAN Basketball League. He averaged 7.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.2 rebounds.
Alab was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the tournament by Hong Kong Eastern during that season.
Alvano went on to play for Hi-Tech Bangkok in the Thailand Basketball Super League, where he normed 19.8 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Last season, Eisbären finished in third place in ProA with a slate of 19-8.
Bremerhaven will face Trier to open its campaign on September 19.
