Former Meralco Bolts import Andre Emmett passed away Monday evening (Manila time) after being gunned down in Dallas, Texas.
He was 37.
According to reports, Emmett “was approached by two unknown suspects” while he was in front of his house. When one of the suspects pointed a gun at him, a melee ensued.
As Emmett tried to run from the two, he was shot.
The 6-foot-5 product of Texas Tech was able to make it to a local medical facility but died later on.
He just recently became a father.
Back in 2015, Meralco tapped him to be one of their two imports for the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup. He led the team to the quarterfinals before falling to San Miguel in two games.
Emmett was the 35th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. He played for the Memphis Grizzlies before playing for multiple club teams all around the world.
For the last two years, the 2015 NBA D-League All-Star MVP was also a staple in the Big 3.
