EVOS Legends reveals why they had to relegate Dlar

Amid backlash from Filipino fans, EVOS Legends cleared the air regarding its controversial decision to move Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera to the development league, Thursday.

In a video published on the organization’s Facebook page, team analyst Steven “Ageee” Gunawan shed light on EVOS Legends’ recent decision to pluck Rizqi “Saykots” Damank from EVOS Icon and replace him with the Filipino EXP laner.

According to Ageee, the communication barrier between the locals and the Pinoy import proved to be the main reason why Dlar saw limited action — three games to be exact — with the former world champions.

Not wanting to hinder Dlar’s overall progress, the team decided to transfer the former ONIC PH star to the MDL where he can continue getting his reps while also having the chance to work on his Bahasa.

“The decision for Dlar is to go to the MDL. First is that we have discussed it together with Dlar as well. And indeed, Dlar also feels that if he plays in the MPL — for example, if he doesn’t get his playing time, or if he doesn’t have enough scrim, maybe it’s difficult for him to improve,” said Ageee.

“And I think it was the right decision. Why? Because Dlar is also a very try-hard person, and he traveled all the way from the Philippines to Indonesia wanting to be a pro player who really showed that he can be better than anyone in Indonesia.”

For his part, Dlar said that he needs to immerse himself more into the culture so that he can perform to the best of his abilities.

And he plans to do all that with EVOS Icon in the MDL.
