The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced Monday afternoon that topflight featherweight Max “Blessed” Holloway (16-3) will be visiting the Philippines from September 15-18 to help promote UFC Fight Night Manila 2: Lamas vs. Penn.
This will be the 24 year old Hawaiian’s first tour of Southeast Asia’s fight capital, highlighted by a meet and greet session with fans and an open workout in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City. He will be joined by former UFC Middleweight, Filipino-American, Mark Munoz and Octagon Girl Red dela Cruz.
The number three-ranked featherweight is riding a division-high nine straight victories, six coming by way of stoppages. His last victory came from the expense of UFC Fight Night Manila 2 headliner Ricardo Lamas last June during UFC 199. Moreover, he also owns a victory over Cole Miller, another fighter slated for Lamas vs. Penn.
In addition, Holloway has the distinct honor of being the first fighter to go the distance against current featherweight kingpin Conor McGregor.
Holloway’s visit highlights UFC’s commitment to continue bringing the best MMA fighters from all over the world closer to the Filipino people.
Fans can catch the featherweight contender during his open workout at SM Megamall on Saturday, September 17 from 2 to 4pm.
