Former champions headline UFC guests for Fight Night Manila 2


Filipino fight fans are in for a treat when the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Manila on October 15, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, for UFC Fight Night Manila 2. The card is set to be headlined by a five-round featherweight bout pitting two-division UFC World Champion BJ “The Prodigy” Penn taking on number four-ranked Ricardo “The Bully” Lamas.

The fight card is set to be comprised of legends, contenders, and prospects from all over the world, including America, Poland, China, Japan, Guam, South Korea, Canada, Russia, Denmark and of course, the Philippines. Moreover, the card will feature the first-ever UFC-sanctioned heavyweight and women’s strawweight bout, as Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis faces Marcin “Tybur” Tybura, while up-and-comer Danielle “Dynamite” Taylor battles veteran Seo Hee Ham.

Filipino flyweight Jenel Lausa is also set to make his UFC debut on UFC Fight Night Manila 2

As an added bonus, the UFC has also announced a number of special guest fighters who will be flying in early to meet fans and watch the highly-anticipated event.

Aside from UFC Manila ambassador Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Munoz (14-6-0), UFC Hall of Famer and former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell (21-8-0), former UFC lightweight champion and number six-ranked featherweight Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (19-5-0), number three-ranked heavyweight contender Alistair “The Reem” Overeem (41-15-0) and number eight-ranked lightweight Michael “Maverick” Chiesa (14-2-0) will be arriving during the UFC’s official Fight Week (October 10-15) to take part in a series of fan and media activities including:

Open Workouts on Wednesday, October 12 at 6:00pm in the SM Mall of Asia Arena

UFC Fight Night Manila: Lamas vs. Penn Q&A & Weigh-In with UFC Guest Fighters on Friday, October 14. Doors will open at 4:15pm at the SM Mall of Asia Arena

UFC Fight Night Manila 2: Lamas vs. Penn on Saturday, October 15. The first bout starts at 6:45pm at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Doors open at 4:30pm, with guest fighters signing autographs from 5:00pm.
