The official mascot of the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup was introduced on Saturday, with “Diwa” making her debut during a community event at San Joaquin Elementary School.
The tournament, set for November 21 to December 7, 2025, will mark the first FIFA competition hosted in the Philippines. Sixteen national teams are expected to compete in the global futsal showcase.
Diwa is a character inspired by the diwata, a mythical figure from Filipino folklore.
Depicted as a spirited girl with close ties to nature, she represents qualities such as teamwork, power, and grace, which organizers say align with the sport of futsal.
The unveiling event, organized by the Local Organizing Committee and the Philippine Football Federation in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Pasig City Government, featured futsal clinics, friendly matches, and interactions between young participants and the mascot.
The introduction of Diwa serves as the first official community activity leading up to the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup, aimed at raising awareness of the tournament and encouraging grassroots participation in the sport.
