Senatorial aspirant Chavit Singson once again showed his generosity by awarding P500,000 to Karl Eldrew Yulo as a reward for winning four gold medals at the 3rd JRC Artistic Gymnastics Stars Championships in Thailand last week.
Singson expressed that Yulo deserves this incentive, highlighting the young athlete’s dedication and hard work in his journey to becoming the country’s next gymnastics sensation.
The younger Yulo follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Carlos, who captured two gold medals in the Paris Olympics last August.
The 16-year-old Yulo clinched gold in the junior individual all-around event, floor exercise, still rings, and vault. He also had silver medals in the parallel bars and team all-around events, marking him as one of the most successful athletes in the prestigious competition.
Present at the modest turnover ceremony were Yulo’s mother Angelica, father Andrew, sister Elaiza, and Singson’s daughter, Rep. Richelle Singson-Michael of the Ako Ilocano Ako party list.
A devoted advocate of Philippine sports, Singson manages the professional career of boxer Charly Suarez without expecting anything in return and serves as chairman emeritus of the Philippine National Shooting Association.
He is also a regular spectator at Philippine Basketball Association games, showing his continuous support for local athletics.
Singson shares a close bond with the Yulo family. Just two weeks ago, the respected former governor of Ilocos Sur gifted the family P1 million as an early Christmas present, expressing his hope for reconciliation within the family.
“Love and respect are essential values of a Filipino family,” Singson remarked, known for his dedication to family despite his strong political resolve.
“I am offering myself to be the catalyst of love and forgiveness within the Yulo family. My only wish is for them to finally settle their differences and be united as we celebrate the Christmas season.”
