Despite a long lay-off, Caloy Yulo still managed to bag bronze in the men’s vault event of the 53rd All-Japan Seniors Gymnastics Championships in Gunma, Tuesday evening.
Yulo, whose last competition was the 30th Southeast Asian Games back in December, still managed to tally a 14.733 for a tie with Kenzi Shirai.
Topping the event were Wataru Kanigawa and Keisuke Asato, who both tallied a 14.900.
Overall, the 20-year-old native of Malate, Manila ended the one-day meet at 12th place with a 83.398 outing. A total of 91 competitors took part in the tournament.
Yulo, a floor specialist, struggled in the event, finishing at 19th place with a 13.966.
He finished in 43rd place (12.900) in pommel horse, 11th (14.100) in rings, 14th (14.066) in parallel bars, and 19th (13.633) in horizontal bar.
