BON CHAN laments Blacklist became overconfident after MPLI Game One

Blacklist International coach Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza admitted that his team lost discipline in the ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Invitational grand finals series against ONIC Esports last Sunday night.

The Tier One-backed squad scored a complete stomp of a victory in Game One, with Kiel “OHEB” Soriano’s Lunox leading the way. He ended up with a perfect 7-0-3 KDA line in the 12-5 opening win.

The match lasted for just 14 minutes and 47 seconds.

Following that, Blacklist International immediately took control of Game Two. Then Sanz “SANZ” Gilang’s signature Yi Sun-Shin helped the Indonesian powerhouse mount a huge comeback for the win.

That win kick-started ONIC Esports’ engine as they secured the next two matches for the title.

“Yun nga medyo nabawasan yung discipline namin. Masyado kaming na-hype kasi sobrang lamang na namin,” admitted BON CHAN om Blacklist International’s post-match presser after the series.

“Kasi yung Game One ang gaan ‘no? Gulat tayo 11 minutes lang ata ‘yung Game One. So ayun siguro, ‘wag magpakampante ‘pag nakauna,” added analyst and reserve Dexter “DEX STAR” Alaba.

Blacklist International, after winning the MPL Philippines Season Eight title, gained an outright quarterfinals slot in the tourney. There, they took out Bigetron Alpha via a dominant 2-0 sweep.

The team dug deep against RRQ Hoshi in the semifinals, 2-1, to advance to the grand finals. They then met the reigning MPL Indonesia titlist.

Still, despite the result of their campaign, BON CHAN is still happy with the way his wards performed.

Now that the MPLI is over, the team will get its much-deserved rest before gearing up for the upcoming M3 World Championships in Singapore.

“It was fun. Ayun nga, medyo mahirap dahil dalawang team na magkasunod sa maigsing oras pero masaya naman siya, masaya. Never naman kami na-down kahit natalo,” said BON CHAN.

“Sa ngayon we will take a break dahil ayun nga, simula MPL up to this point never pa kaming nakapag-celebrate ng championship ‘di pa namin nagagawa dahil pinriority namin ‘yung vaccine, ‘yung passports. So, malalaman natin magbe-break lang kami ng konti then balik preparation na kami.”
