Four hours after their 0-2 shutout loss to Mexico, the Philippine Women’s National Softball Team suffered the same fate against sixth-ranked team in the world Puerto Rico.
The RP Blu Girls were shut out anew this time by the group leaders, 0-3, to end their two-game day at the Zett.A. Ball Park in Ichihara City, Japan, Saturday evening.

The Blu Girls fell to 1-2 in the standings in Group A of the 2018 Women’s Softball World Championship. The Philippines is currently in fifth place in Group A.
Former Team USA lefty pitcher Giselle Juarez proved to be the bane to the Filipinas. The 20-year-old Sun Devil had a no-hitter in seven innings pitched, striking out four Filipina batters and allowing just one walk.
The Filipinas could not get anything going against Juarez, as no runner was able to get beyond first base.
On the other end, the Puerto Ricans were able to break through against Lyca Basa (0-1) in the third inning. Aleisha Ocasio doubled to deep right field to bring home Quianna Diaz-Patterson.
The duo of Sierra Lange and Ann Antolihao later on could not contain Puerto Rico in the fifth inning, as a sac fly by Galis Lozada Reyes brought home Diaz-Patterson while an error by shortstop Garnet Blando tripled the lead.
The Blu Girls will look to bounce back when they take on the Netherlands on Sunday, August 9, at the Akitsu Stadium in Narashino City, Japan. The game begins at 2:30pm (Philippine time).
