PAGADIAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR—Globaport-MisOr atoned for its 23-point collapse against Roxas with a huge 72-61 win over Zamboanga Sibugay, Wednesday.
And the Valientes appeared to have learned their lesson in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Challenge.
They faced the same scenario against the Anak Mindanao Warriors at the Pagadian City Gymnasium here, heading into the fourth quarter up big.
Trailing by 14 entering the payoff period, Zamboanga Sibugay threatened to come back and snatch the game.
But MisOr already knew what to do in the situation.
“Mas controlled kami. We played organize. Tinanggal namin ‘yung bara-bara na laro,” said head coach Vis Valencia.
“Tinanggal ko muna ‘yung privilege to run kasi sumasabog eh. We played organize, ang ganda ng mga patterns and well executed.”
10 was the closest the Warriors could get while they traded baskets with the Valientes throughout the frame, working to the cause of the latter.
Helping the squad stay composed inside the court was Mac Baracael, the captain of the team.
“Nag change kami ng approach sa game kasi kapag lumamang kami, ang tendency namin nagrerelax kami,” said the veteran forward.
“Sinabihan ko lang sila na mag change ng mindset, ayun nakapag-adjust naman kami.”
And with the win coming from Zamboanga Sibugay, which was on a hot four-game winning streak prior to the match, the Valientes’ confidence is sky high.
“Malaking boost itong panalo sa Zamboanga Sibugay para sa confidence namin para sa next game, kumpyansa na ulit kami,” said Baracael.
