The financial windfall from Carlos Yulo’s golden triumph at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 is likely to soar into the mid-seven digits.
The 24-year-old from Manila already has ₱10 million guaranteed from the Sports Benefits and Incentives Act of 2001, with an additional ₱3 million from the House of Representatives.
It is highly likely that sports patrons and good friends Manny V. Pangilinan and Ramon S. Ang will each match the ₱10 million.
A ₱24 million condominium developed by Megaworld also awaits Yulo.
It’s life-changing money for the Adamsonian.
The Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz, knows this well, having received almost ₱50 million in incentives after her historic triumph in Tokyo.
Diaz, who experienced all of this at the age of 30, wants Yulo to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
“Proud ako sa iyo. I-enjoy mo ang bunga ng pinagpaguran mo,” she said in a post.
But with all the glitz and glamour that comes with an Olympic gold, Diaz advises her ‘little brother’ not to fall into the trap of sulking in them.
“At lagi mong ibabalik sa Diyos at bayan, dahil lahat ng tagumpay natin ay hindi pansarili,” she shared.
“Salamat sa lahat ng maganda at mabuting ginagawa at gagawin mo pa para sa Diyos at bayan!”
And Diaz will always keep her lines open for Yulo.
“Nandito lang ang Ate Haidie mo para sa iyo lagi!”
