Aaron Black was rushed to the hospital after suffering an accidental elbow to the face during the third quarter of Meralco’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup meeting against Rain or Shine, Saturday night at the Philsports Arena.
The lefty combo guard was staggered after getting hit inadvertently by a driving Rey Nambatac at the 7:23-mark of the said period, with the Bolts trying to get back to the match as they were trailing 73-63 at that point.
He had to be assisted by his teammates on the way to the bench, before being taken out of the playing court to be taken care of by the medics.
Shortly after, the 25-year-old was stretchered out of the venue and was brought to the Cardinals Santos Medical Center for further checking.
Black left the match with four points, five assists, and two rebounds in the 22 minutes and 16 seconds he saw action.
The Bolts fell to their third loss in a row and fifth overall in the conference, 113-96, but the team has its fingers crossed that the young star is fine.
Reporters tried to seek an update from head coach Norman Black after the match, but he already left the venue to tend to his son.
The Ateneo product has been one of the few bright spots amidst the Bolts’ woes with averages of 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.
