RSG Slate PH rising star John “1rrad” Tuason is dedicating his impressive performance in the MPL Philippines Season 11 playoffs to his late MDL coach Ivan “Navi” Gacho. Navi passed away due to fatal arrhythmia just days after RSG Ignite’s MDL campaign ended.
“Na-motivate ako nang sobra. Lalo pa nung last two weeks nung nawala yung coach namin. Inalay ko rin yung laro ko para sa kanya,” said 1rrad, who spent the first seven weeks of the season in the MDL with Navi before getting called up in the final week of the regular season.
Coming off a sensational outing against ONIC PH in the first round, 1rrad proved that his performance was no fluke as he powered RSG Slate PH’s comeback victory to send the reigning world champion ECHO to the lower bracket at the SMX Convention Center.
Down 1-2 in the series, the former Z4 Esports jungler single-handedly carried Game Four to help RSG Slate PH force a Game Five.
“I don’t like to admit it [to] my players because I don’t want them to have a malaking ulo pero Game Four was a draft that we were medyo lugi, siguro 30-70, 30 kami pero 1rrad really carried the game so good job,” said RSG Slate PH head coach Brian “Panda” Lim.
During the 23rd minute, 1rrad on Lancelot turned a two-against-three situation into their favor and paved the way for Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo (Minsitthar) to steal the Lord from right under Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s nose.
“Una kasi 1-2 na yung standing namin tapos nakikita ko yung mga kakampi ko nada-down na. Edi ako parang sige enjoyin ko na lang, laruin ko na lang ‘tong laro na ‘to,” said 1rrad.
“Then sinabi ni coach yung Lance first pick, ginanahan ako. Confident kasi ako gamitin yung hero na yun e, edi nung time na yun wala akong pakealam kung mabaog kakampi ko. Wala akong pakealam kung mabasagan kami ng tower, kahit makuha nila yung objectives,” he added.
1rrad and RSG Slate PH will take on Blacklist International in the upper bracket finals tomorrow, Saturday at 5:00 PM.
