Aura PH sidelaner Kielvj “Kielvj” Hernandez’s schooling took a back seat when his former Sunsparks team qualified for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Four.
But the sacrifice was worth it for the then-14-year-old Kielvj. After all, it was all about chasing his life-long dream of becoming a full-time professional player.
With Kielvj playing a vital role in the team, Sunsparks was able to establish a two-year dominance in the MPL-PH. It won two consecutive championships in seasons four and five — the first team in history to reach such feat.
He also represented the Philippines in the first-ever M1 World Championships in Malaysia.
Now living his best life at such a young age, the 15-year-old prodigy is helping his sister, Kenn Danica, reach the dreams of her own.
“Since grade nine po siya, pangarap na niya ‘yun. Kaya daw niya sa UST niya gusto kasi raw best school daw ‘yun and gusto niya din mag-college,” said Kielvj in an interview with Tiebreaker Times.
“‘Yung dating hindi namin magawa, kasi nga wala kaming daddy, mas nabibigay ko na [ngayon]. Katulad niyan, ‘yung pangarap ni ate na mag-UST, ako ‘yung magbibigay financially nung tuition niya.”
Kielvj’s parents separated almost four years ago. He admitted that they didn’t enjoy much luxury in life since his mother, Marviluz, was the only one left to provide for them.
And for that, he’s forever grateful.
Now, he is doing everything he can to provide for his family. Besides his monthly salary from Aura PH, Kielvj is also doing pilot services for additional income.
All of that, as he said, is for his beloved family, who have given him all the support he needed during his two-year career in the pros.
“Sobrang saya kasi hindi pa ako pro player noon. Nasa school pa lang din ako nasabi na niya sa amin na gusto niya mag-UST. Ta’s ngayon natupad na niya ‘yung pangarap niya,’” he said.
“Ang saya talaga kasi ginagawa ko naman lahat ‘to para sa family ko kasi mahal na mahal ko sila.”
