After 14-month layoff, Richard Corminal hopes for breakthrough

Richard “Notorious” Corminal is set to make his return to the Circle when he locks horns with India’s Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju on the undercard of ONE: Enter the Dragon on May 17 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The Kuala Lumpur-based Filipino will be battling for the first time in 14 months. And it’s clearly been a long wait for him.

Corminal has dropped all of his three outings in ONE Championship, with his latest defeat coming at the hands of Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon on the undercard of ONE: Iron Will in March 2018.

Now, all of his sacrifices since moving to Malaysia and deciding to compete as a mixed martial artist on a full-time basis will hang in a balance when he returns to The Home Of Martial Arts in the Lion City.

Standing in his way is Raju, who’s also looking to snap out of his own slump, having lost his previous three outings as well.

He last saw action against former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario at ONE: Conquest of Champions last November, ultimately losing via decision.

The match-up is the designated curtain-raiser for another stacked card, which will be bannered by the ONE Lightweight World Title match between Shinya Aoki and Evolve MMA teammate Christian Lee.

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje Eustaquio also makes his return to the ONE Circle when he battles the debuting Kim Kyu Sung in the latest addition to the blockbuster event.

Also on the undercard is the much-awaited ONE Championship debut of American superstar Sage “Super” Northcutt, who is tasked to battle striking specialist Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre in three five-minute round contest.

Making this card even more special is the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Semifinals match between Saygid “Dagi” Guseyn Arslanaliev and Ariel “Tarzan” Sexton, alongside the quarterfinals of the ONE Super Series Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix.
