NLEX retains McAloney, Ighalo, Porter, Galanza, Varilla

After locking up JR Quinahan, Raul Soyud, and Mike Miranda, NLEX secured the rest of its free agents, Thursday at its main office in Caloocan.

Will McAloney, Kris Porter, Kenneth Ighalo, Bong Galanza, and Paul Varilla were re-signed by the squad.

Only Varilla could not attend the contract signing as he was still in the midst of a quarantine coming from the States.

Present during the contract signing were key officials of the Road Warriors in Rod Franco, Yeng Guiao, Nemy Castillo, and Ronald Dulatre.

McAloney, a 6-foot-5 sophomore out of MPBL club Cebu, proved that he belonged in the big league, averaging 6.29 points and 3.43 rebounds in the PBA bubble.

Porter, the 16th overall pick in the 2018 Rookie Draft and stands 6-foot-5, normed 6.25 points and 3.63 rebounds.

Ighalo, the 28th overall pick in 2014, showed great dedication to NLEX, missing the birth of his first-born as he decided to stay with the Road Warriors in the bubble last October 15. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds.

Galanza, a six-year pro, posted numbers of 3.34 points per game while Varilla, a junior in the PBA, had 1.22 points per outing norms.
