Kevin Ferrer looks to return to Ginebra by Game 3

Injured rookie Kevin Ferrer is hopeful that he can be given the green light to suit up for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in Game Three of their 2017 Governor’s Cup Semifinal series against the TNT Katropa this coming Friday, October 6.

The 25-year-old had fractured his left cheekbone in Ginebra’s last game of the elimination round, last September 23, also against the Katropa, falling hard face first after biting on TNT’s Mo Tautuaa’s pump fake.

“Hopefully sa Friday makabalik na talaga,” said the University of Santo Tomas product after the Gin Kings’ 121-94 Game One win, Monday night at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. “Normal na, as in. Walang pain. Rest na lang talaga.

“Hinihintay na lang go signal ng doctor.”

The Gilas Pilipinas Cadet, whose left eye is still slightly bruised, confirmed that he has already resumed practices with the team. However, Ferrer is still only doing non-contact drills to ensure his injury will not worsen.

“Nakaka-practice na pero no contact. sumasabay na ako sa kanila,” the 24-year-old said.

The 6-foot-4 forward is averaging 5.25 points on 37.5 percent shooting from downtown to go along with 1.5 rebounds in 12.5 minutes of action this conference.

If ever he will be granted the go signal come Friday, the six-foot-four wingman is also hoping that he will be able to provide what the defending champions need.

“Kailangan ko paghandaan kung ano yung dadatnan ko,” said Ferrer.

“Sana maging malakas at better ako pagbalik ko.”
