Allen Durham on pace to win second straight Best Import award

Reigning Governor’s Cup Best Import Allen Durham of the Meralco Bolts is on track to bag his second straight Best Import plum, all thanks to his impressive all-around performances during the elimination phase.

The 29-year-old from Michigan, USA emerged as the top-performing reinforcement after the first round with norms of 27.8 points, 19.4 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.18 blocks for a total of 61.36 statistical points.

With those numbers, the versatile six-foot-five forward towed the seven-year franchise to its first-ever top-seed finish heading into the playoffs.

Coming in second is TNT Katropa’s second-generation cager Glen Rice, Jr., whose averages of 32.9 points, 11.25 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks (55.62 SP) helped the Texters clinch the second spot.

Durham is currently the leader in rebounds and assists, while Rice, Jr. topped the steals category.

Rounding out the Top Five are Phoenix Fuel Masters’ Brandon Brown (54.50 SP); Blackwater Elite’s alpha male Henry Walker (53.25 SP); and Globalport Batang Pier’s wide-bodied enforcer Murphey Holloway (53.22 SP).

Brown, who was Phoenix’s replacement for scoring machine Eugene Phelps after the latter suffered a foot injury early in the conference, led all foreigners in scoring (34.8 points) and in blocks (3.0) in the six games he played.

The imports of teams that will make it to the semifinals will be the official candidates for the award.
