Jerry Yee stays with UP

Jerry Yee legitimately left the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons program over the weekend. But a phone call from the College of Human Kinetics Dean Ronualdo Dizer and a conversation with his players changed his mind.

Apparently, stress from internal issues have been wearing on Yee. The Hope Christian High School mentor would rather stay out of things he cannot control.

“I wanted to [leave] but Dean Dizer talked to me,” Yee told Tiebreaker Times.

“Nakakapagod lang kasi may issues na beyond our control. I’m tired. I wanted to leave but I got a call from Dean and then nag-usap kami ng players so tuloy. Hindi naman ako mahirap kausap.

“Hindi ko alam. Naisip ko and na-feel ko na pagod na ako sa gulo. I don’t know,” the Filipino-Chinese mentor furthered.

Without going into detail, Yee revealed that there were people who wanted control of the team.

“There are people, siguro, that want the position, the team. Wala naman problema sa akin. Sa kanila na.

“When people can call your president, your dean, your chancellor and say whatever, anong magagawa mo? Hindi ko rin alam,” Yee admitted.

For now, Yee says he and the team are focused on preparing for UAAP Season 80.

“I’m working with the team. Hopefully, we play better in the UAAP. Mabalik sana natin ng Top Four and then sana mag-podium. Whatever happens, nagsabi naman na ako na I’m willing to give way.

“‘Yun ‘yung plano. Everything else, hindi ko na hawak,” Yee closed.
