Alyssa Valdez was generous in her despedida game with the Creamline Cool Smashers
Set to miss the Creamline Cool Smashers’ last three matches, the four-time V-League MVP popped up for 30 points and powered her team past the then-undefeated Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors. In the process, Creamline remained the only unblemished squad in the PVL.
“I was super inspired to play in today’s game.
“Hindi mo kasi masasabi kung ano ‘yung babalikan ko after training ko. Thankful ako that my teammates and the management and coaching staff are very supportive,” shared Valdez. “As a team maganda din ‘yung pinakita namin sa conference na ‘to.
“Looking forward na makakalaro pa ako with my teammates kasi ang babalikan ko semifinals na,” she added, as the National Team is set to fly home from its two-week Japan camp on August 2.
Leaving on a good note will give the 24-year-old some peace of mind while training with the National Team in Japan, as another win pushes Creamline into the semifinals picture.
With two of their last three matches coming against the winless University of the Philippines Lady Maroons and Power Smashers, it’s easy to see the Cool Smashers entering the semifinals and improving their third place finish in the Reinforced Conference.
On her part, Valdez is not even thinking about today’s match being her last this conference. She has full confidence in her teammates.
“Hopefully mahing maganda ‘yung flow. I’m really confident sa teammates ko, si Cesca [Racraquin] biglang pinasok today, nagdeliver. Everyone, nandiyan’ yung veteran pressence ni Ate Ging [Balse], nandiyan si Jia [Morado], si Pau [Soriano],” declared the proud Batangueña. “I-inspire lang namin ‘yung isa’t isa. I’m training not only for the national team but, also, for the team na iiwan ko.
“Lalaban at lalaban sila para magkakasama pa kami na maglalaro sa semifinals.”
