With Mika Reyes firmly in a new chapter of her career, she takes on past allies in her bid for another championship
Just last season, Reyes donned the gold and red of the F2 Logistics with her fellow La Sallians to claim the PSL All-Filipino Conference championship.
Now with the Petron Blaze Spikers, the 23-year-old has the unenviable task trying to take down her red-hot former team in the Finals.
“Hindi siya pressure; it’s more of, again, a challenge for me.
“First game namin sila, ang tagal na rin since nung nakalaban namin sila,” recalled Reyes about their Petron’s win 23-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-15, 15-9 on opening day. “And then ayon, ibang iba na rin kasi sila, iba sila gumalaw compared nung nakalaban namin sila before.
“Magandang laro for sure ito.”
After losing their first two games, the Cargo Movers have since gone on a tear, winning six straight games. Knowing her former school and teammates, Reyes fully expects her former squad to pick up their act as F2 Logistics tries to make it do a brace of the All-Filipino Conference.
“Pinakita naman nila sa game nila against Cignal na gustong gusto talaga nila bumawi and gustong gusto nila makaabot ng finals,” added the native of Pulilan, Bulacan.
Out of respect, Reyes declined to give any predictions for the Finals, instead urging fans to watch both squads slug it out in Game One on Tuesday.
“Ayoko kasi ng nagsasalita, ever since naman,” the three-time UAAP Champion shared.
“Alam mo yan. Di talaga ako nagsasabi talaga. Di ko pinipin-point. Kumbaga safe lang din ako.”
