The Adamson University women’s volleyball team are 0-2 in the early stages of the UAAP tournament. In two games, the team has won only one set. In those two games however, the Lady Falcons faced off against the two teams that participated in the finals of last season’s tournament. We caught up with graduating senior Amanda Villanueva and asked for her thoughts on the team’s current status.
According to Villanueva, the team lacked communication in its games against Ateneo and La Salle. Moreover, the goal right now is not just to win. “Gagawin namin yung dapat gawin to win. Di namin goal is to just win. Goal namin is to think right and then the winning will come after doing it.”
When pressed about her team’s current morale, she stressed that they were fine. “Okay naman. Okay naman sila”, said Villanueva. She was asked if the team was pressing the panic button this early in the season, to which she replied, “wala naman.”
As one of the veterans of the Lady Falcons, Villanueva hopes that the team can improve on its spirit of oneness on the court. To close out the interview, she said the team has to “uplift yung court vision namin sa isa’t-isa. Nawawala pa kami kanina.”
Villanueva and the Lady Falcons are set to face the UE Lady Warriors on November 30, 4pm at the San Juan Arena.
